About Me... Before turning to full time journalism, I taught English in various London comprehensive schools for 15 years, latterly combining this with freelance writing. My classroom experience means I have a sound knowledge of a wide range of educational issues. I’ve written about everything from plagiarism to school furniture for publications including Education Guardian, The Independent’s Education and Careers section, The Times Educational Supplement, Professional Teacher, Secondary teachers, Early Years, Sec-ed, and the Quality Improvement Journal. I also have a longstanding interest in health, fitness and sport, and am a regular writer for the Amateur Rowing Association’s Rowing and Regatta magazine. After a day at my desk, I enjoy some more energetic pursuits - as well as playing tennis, I’m a big fan of salsa music and dance and can often be found on the dance floor at one of London’s Latin clubs. I have travelled extensively in Africa, many parts of Asia, and South and Central America, and articles and photos from my trips have appeared in TNT magazine and Wanderlust. You can see some examples of my pictures below - click to enlarge them. Although I’m based in London, I like to keep in touch with my roots and enjoy walking the cliff paths and moors of my native West Cornwall.
